January 24, 2011

One Centre Hill Avenue, Petersburg, VA

Centre Hill Mansion has been the home of many notable Virginia families and has played host to presidents Abraham Lincoln and William Howard Taft. As the Civil War drew to a close the mansion served as the headquarters for Federal soldiers under the command of General George L. Hartsuff. For several years on the evening of January 24, the owners of Centre Hill heard what they believed to be the ghosts of Civil War soldiers marching up and down the dome’s staircase. Will this be the year when some of the former residents make an appearance? Open 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission: adults $5.00 and children under 12 $3.00.
