Tour Richmond Civil War Battle Sites
Today, the Richmond Region’s Civil War battle sites are quiet, moving tributes to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. But 150 years ago, they were scenes of immense carnage and bloodshed. One-fourth of the war’s battles and 60 percent of its casualties occurred within a 75-mile radius of the Richmond Petersburg Region. Due to the huge number of dead and wounded, the largest hospital in the South during the war was located at what is now the Richmond National Battlefield Park.
